FC 25 TOTS: Premier League Disappoints, Ligue 1 SBCs Shine

This week's FC 25 content revolves around SBC players, the Team of the Season (TOTS) blue card pool, and the in-game Evolutions system. Overall, the Premier League TOTS has been a disappointment, while the Ligue 1 week's highlights are concentrated on some cost-effective SBC players.
Emega is undoubtedly one of the most noteworthy SBC players of the week. As a Ligue 1 striker card, his performance has far exceeded expectations, even drawing comparisons to top-tier legends like Drogba. Whether it's sprinting, physical duels, or explosive acceleration, Emega demonstrates exceptional all-around ability, making him a standout player in Ligue 1 this season. In contrast, Du Y's performance has been rather mediocre. While his PlayStyles are decent, as a winger, he lacks sufficient explosiveness, making him more suitable for squad depth rather than a core selection. Thuram, as a center-back SBC, is more debatable, but his value lies in his easy integration into TOTS chemistry setups, making him a good option for players whose defense is still developing.
The Evolutions system hasn't brought many surprises this week, with most evolved players being of average strength. Only "Director Vieira" seems worth considering. The "roll card" (likely referring to the process of combining lower-rated cards) mechanism has once again been criticized by players. The tedious process of synthesizing low-rated cards has caused many players to lose patience. If EA wants to maintain player engagement, simplifying the process or introducing "rollback packs" (allowing players to undo evolutions or reclaim fodder) might be necessary adjustments.
The Premier League TOTS card pool has become a focal point of player complaints. Despite being one of the most popular leagues globally, the Premier League TOTS performances have been surprisingly underwhelming. PlayStyle designs are conservative, and many popular players' cards lack sufficient strength. Even top stars like Haaland and Salah have not been spared. Haaland lacks the crucial Finesse Shot PlayStyle, while Salah's PlayStyle combination (Finesse Shot + Outside Foot Shot) significantly reduces his practicality. The only silver lining is Bruno Fernandes, whose drop rate is relatively high and passing ability is exceptional. Despite a slightly weaker finishing ability, he remains one of the more cost-effective choices this week. Additionally, Isak and Saliba have become a couple of worthwhile acquisitions due to their solid PlayStyle combinations.
Looking ahead, the prospects for the Bundesliga and Serie A weeks don't seem optimistic. If EA continues with its current conservative strategy, player enthusiasm may decline further. Currently, La Liga and the Saudi Pro League (especially with the Messi and Ronaldo-led lineups) are highly anticipated, but whether they can reverse the overall downward trend of TOTS remains uncertain. Hopefully, future updates will bring more surprises; otherwise, the game's popularity may continue to wane.
